face-to-face sessions
The original Curiosity Case experience
Clare’s collection of nostalgic curios presented from her vintage suitcase, along with stories, music and memories, became the foundation of The Curiosity Case face-to-face reminiscence experience.
With a background in performing arts, a lifelong love of history and popular culture, and experience working with the older generation, Clare discovered how powerful the right object, song or story could be in unlocking memories and starting conversations.
Residents love the fun anecdotes and historical facts she links to each of the physical items, which they enjoy holding and reminiscing with. ‘I had one like that’, ‘that takes me back’ and ‘those were the days’ are some of the comments Clare hears on a daily basis.
What happens in a session
Each session begins with the original Curiosity Case theme song, a lovely piece in a swing style to get the toes tapping.
Clare then brings together a carefully chosen mix of vintage objects, stories, music and conversation — creating plenty of opportunities for memories to surface and be shared.
- Vintage objects and curios — things to see, touch and explore
- Music and familiar sounds — sparking recognition and memories
- Stories and anecdotes — bringing the past to life
- Conversation — encouraging everyone to join in
- Shared memories — connecting people through their own experiences
A growing demand for reminiscence
The response to The Curiosity Case has been remarkable. Clare’s face-to-face reminiscence sessions are currently fully booked through to the end of 2027.
That demand showed her just how much people value opportunities to remember, reminisce and share experiences from the past. But it also highlighted a challenge: she simply couldn’t reach everyone who wanted to take part.
TCC TV was created to help change that — bringing the same warmth, curiosity and reminiscence experience to care homes and families through an easy-to-use digital service.
